I think that these are dark times here at godshots. I really do. We started godshots in order to drink coffee, to be sure, but also to be around people we love. To drink coffee with people we love. But what happens when you lose the people you love? This is mainly my fault. Not Chino’s. Ok. That’s it for now.

Here at godshots dot net we read several blogs of people whom we find interesting. One of these blogs is meet the press pot. I love this blog, it is quite funny. It also turns out that my good friend Erin Dowding from New York knows the blogger in question, Erin Meister.
Well, we finally were able to get some Barrington Gold and I have to say it is awesome so far. The complex flavours are difficult to pin point but Yoshi and I are gettin’ there. So thanks a bundle to the people at Barrington´s, Erin Meister, and of course Wilbert for bringing the coffee down to Mexico City.

Our first shipment of Orion coffee arrived on friday. I think we overdid it, ordering 3 kilos. But at least there’ll be enough to go around for godshots, friends and the office.
We did some preliminary testing during godshots, but the coffee is still young (too recently roasted) and we are still a ways off from dialing it in. When we are able to pull off some decent shots with it, we’ll be reporting on how it stacks up to the other beans we usually use.

Chino and I were invited to our friend Robert´s coffee roasting business. It was quite the field trip and it was awesome! Robert explained the types of beans he used and he gave us about seven espressos. Needless to say, we were wired…
Here´s a photo of Chino, Robert and the mighty Probat!

So we are back to our coffee groove after a week of being out on vacation. Kiyoshi went to Germany and I went to the beach, and it was good but I sure missed the coffee. I didn´t anticipate that a week without good coffee would be this hard! Luckily we had a batch of Victrola Coffee to put to the test. That stuff is good! And it has an extra kick to it also, so I´m not complaining.

Last saturday it was Chino’s turn to host the magno-event. So the two of us met at his house for the weekly ritual. I don’t know what happened but now nobody is going to godshots. That’s cool. I have a theory though. I think that the fact that Dani left the country (she went to Spain for a couple of months) has a lot to do with it. I think maybe people don’t like Chino and I nearly as much as they like Dani. I know I miss her…

This time though, lots of people showed up. The ol’ europiccola handled everything very well and I was able to pull off around 11 shots in a short while. It takes some voodoo to deal with the temperature, though!

Today it was my turn to host Godshots. I messed up on the rosettas but before they got to my house i pulled one off!!! Isn´t that always the case?! I had a wonderful time and Chino and Dani are great!

I’m usually very grumpy about serving coffee for people during the week. I mean, I love having people enjoy coffee with me during our weekly godshots. But my everyday morning coffee ritual is something different. See I love coffee. I love to drink it, make it, roast it, smell it… etc. But I only get to brew it twice every morning before I have to go off to work. So I’ve got it all down to a science. Down to the milisecond, almost.
In anycase, today, seeing as it’s mother’s day, I took the time to make a cup for vero (an actual, honest to goodness mom) during my morning coffee time-slot. It feels good to make a special cup of coffee for someone on a special ocassion. Sort of elevates the experience from something you do everyday to wake up, into something more similar to a tea ceremony or something.
