Hello and welcome to Godshots, where Kiyoshi and Gardoni talk about coffee-making and their weekly espresso brewing meet-ups.

Gardoni’s place

by Kiyoshi

Being Gardoni’s roommate for a few months was great. I had a chance to develop a comfortable relationship with his espresso gear, namely the Silvia and the Rocky grinder.

I have to say that if I had the budget, and I were looking for a pump espresso machine (as opposed to a lever machine), I would seriously consider the Silvia with PID such as Gardoni has now. Managing the temperature variable in a precise manner allows for some pretty consistent shots.

But where I was most able to learn was from the frothing wand. My europiccola doesn’t have half the steaming power that the Silvia does, and I was able to get better milk, faster and more consistently with it. That made my rosetta pouring skillz improve all the more during my stay!
